Russian Stuffed Cabbage

From: Grandpa [Dad Smith], 1977




o        1 head of cabbage

o        1 ˝ pounds ground beef

o        ˝ cup grated onion

o        ˝ cup raw rice (Minute Rice is o.k.)

o        salt & pepper to taste

o        1 to 2 cups tomato sauce (or spaghetti sauce)


To Prepare…


1.       Wilt the cabbage by placing it in boiling water for a few minutes.

2.       Remove and cool.

3.       Separate leaves from head.

4.       Mix other ingredients and place a ball of this mixture on each cabbage leaf; fold over and hold in place (if needed) with a toothpick.

5.       Place in baking dish.

6.       Pour sauce over cabbage.

7.       Cover and bake at 350 degrees for about 1 ˝ hours. Check during baking – if dry – add more liquid as necessary.
